Which head set?
hi All, I'm looking for head set advice, please. I'm building up a Scott AFD309 alu frame with 105 parts. However I don't know what to fit in terms of head set. I'll be fitting carbon forks with alu steerer (as yet not bought).
I'd like to fit a clamp type stem and oversize (modern) bars, which I'm guessing means an AHEAD set. Is this compatable with older frames and head tubes. Tube is 1-1/8. How do Ahead sets fit?
Many thanks for any replyies or advice.
p.s. any comments about the frame welcome as I don't know anything about them, and can't find any reviews. It's about 7 years old, I believe.

"an AHEAD set. Is this compatable with older frames and head tubes."
As long as buy a standard (non-integrated?) aheadset, yes. Basically starting from scratch as new forks, so will need to fit new cups into head tube and new crown race to forks. This can be tricky without right tools/practice and I suspect that most advice will be to pay to have it done (altho' I've done a few with blocks of wood, hammer and vice!).
As to which aheadset....depends how much you want to pay!d.j.
