Could any one out there give me some recomendations on any good mtn bike maintenance books. My bikes getting on a bit and to avoid costly shop bills i'd like to get to grips with any servicing work myself. :?:

If you go onto the park tools website you can print off all the repair help sections, they have printer friendly versions. Im not sure if these differ from the contents of their repair book but its worth a look and might save you a few quid. Job done.

I've got the haynes one got it for my birtday a couple of years ago. As it goes it pretty good for general refrence a bit out of date in places.
However the best thing I found as mentioned is the Park tool website as they cover things like specfic makes of brakes etc. In aboslute emergancies my LBS have pointed me in the right direction.
Servicing your own bike is worth it in what you can save in cost and time. However don't get to good at it else you'll have yours mates around wanting you to do there servicing. As what happened to me last summer. Let's just say it involved basically stripping down an XT hub and several late nights, putting right what one of LBS had done.
