Anyone else experiencing problems ? Any easy fixes for new cups that should expand the longevity?
Latest is a sub 300mile dura ace hollowtech II where the cups have "gone" (usual grinding noises when hammering or going uphill)

- Great service from Ribble - had to replace at my cost as they are not covered !!

im less than convinced by these new type of bb-the bearing seals on them dont seem up to the job on a highly stressed area such as a bb ive gone back to using cartridge bb's-the weight penalty is negligible and the bearings last for years

I was advised to have the bottom bracket shell faced before fitting hollowtech. I think if the BB isn't perfectly square on the shell the bearings can go really quickly. It's less of a problem with modern frames as they tend to come pre-faced from the factory, but if it's an older frame this could be the problem. How much it costs is a mystery to me as the two small LBS that I asked in the past didn't have the tools to do it, so I fitted the BB anyway and will keep my fingers crossed.
