ARRGHHHH!!!! Just bent my wheel

I've just spent a deeply frustrating few hours trying to remove a replace my MTB tyres and replace them with slicks for road use.

Not only have I snapped all the crappy tyre levers, I've now bent the front wheel!! Unbelievable.

My questions are: Is it possible to put the front wheel right? Or do I just have to bite the bullet and buy some new wheels. This cycling thing is turning out more expensive than I had given it credit.

I've had my Saracen Vortex LE for 3 months now and have the wheels it came with (spec.here: http://www.twenga.co.uk/offer/123675508.html)

Can anyone recommend some good and not too expensive wheels that would be a step up? I do mostly road and some off road cycling.

Also, would it make any sense just to replace the front wheel?

Thanks

You'll be able to get your local bike shop to fix you wheel, you could even do it yourself, loosen your spokes, then straighten the rim, then tighten the spokes up, probably best getting a shop o do it though.

You could also upgrade your rims and get them built up by a shop into your current hubs and spokes.

You bent a wheel putting a tyre on?!!!

Anyway, if the rim isnt warped, it shoould be able to be trued up, about 8 quid at the LBS.

thanks guys. Yep I'm pretty sure the rim is warped. I can't get the knack of putting tyres on. Just seems so damn difficult. Think I need some decent metal levers.

metal levers are a bad idea.
when fitting or removing the tyre, push the bead right into the well of the rim. Tyre should pop off much easier then.

Tyres can be a nightmare to get on certain rims but I've never known anyone bend the rim trying, dropping the bead into the centre really helps ! Take it to your LBS and see what they say .
