I have a Boardman Urban Pro which is my daily commuter. It has fairly slim 700x23c tyres so I would like to fit a good set of full length but lightweight mudguards. Does anyone have any good recommendations please?

I second the SKS recommendation. I use SKS Race Blades because they're easy to get off when I don't need them, but the full-length Chromoplastics are the business if you want full protection and a more permanemt fitting.

Thanks for recommendations, I saw these in a shop today for about £20, but they did not have the slimmest version in stock, which is what I want. I also saw a shorter length plastic clip on type. Would these give adequate protection in the wet?

The SKS Race Blades that I use (see above link) give me enough protection. They cover from the fork backwards (front) or brake caliper backwards (rear), and are long enough to prevent spray from the font wheel soaking my shins, and spray from the back soaking my backside. I also wear waterproof overshoes and overtrousers when it's really wet though. I suppose it depends what your tolerance is, and what you determine as "adequate", but they do the job for me.

I use the race blades, which I think are the short ones you saw, and I would prefer a bit more protection than they give. The rear one is fine, and stops the spray going up my back, which is the biggest problem, but the front one isn't as effective as I'd like it to be. I can accept getting wet feet, and I keep meaning to get some overshoes, but I also get some spray up my shins, and there's also some spray that gets thrown up in front of the bike, so you ride straight into it. I intend to stick with the race blades for wet rides in the the summer, but will probably fit full mudguards for winter. It's no fun arriving at work spattered with dirty water off the road.

I bought these ones from Ribble, still SKS, and super cheap.

Bought 45 version for a commuter, and 35 for a roadbike, will accomadate up to a 28mm tyre.
Also a mudflap version available if you want.
