Is there any great difference between these 2 tyres?

Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick:

and Vittoria Rubino Pro:

I have the pro slick tyres on my bike and love them, but I think they might need replacing soon, and I liked the coloured versions you can get with the normal pro. Would these be pretty much the same?

The Pro have a bit of patterned tread.

I've got Slick Pros on my Winter bike, and they seem fine (although they haven't been tested in the wet yet). I'd stick with the Slicks, if you are happy with them.

My Wilier came with pros and the tread is only on the sides.
  • I got some Rubino pros recently and as over-the-hill said, the treads (small dimples) are round the edge with the middle 1 cm slick. I have found them an improvement on my Scwalbe Stelvios in terms of grip in the wet (never twitched on a very wet Kirklees Sportive even when hammering down very wet, bendy and fast descents). And I feel they roll just as well.

the 'slicks' seem taller in profile than the regular ones (both 23mm) and are comfy for it - but they aren't so good in the wet and only come in the black / grey colourway while the regular ones come in all colours.

personally I wouldn't even bother with the 'pro's - i like the std solid wired ones for £6

The rubino pro's have excellent puncture resistance which makes the extra cost over the standard £6 ones worthwhile.
