Seat post stuck in seat tube

I am doing up my mates bike for him as its been sitting in his garage for a year, and the seat post is stuck in the seat tube. Does anyone have any ideas how to sort this?!

    norco forever just been nosing round your pink bike album where did you get that red chain

    I suddenly find that I need a red chain to go with my red frame my panaracer tyres with the red stripe and my red lock on grips :)
