Shimano Hydraulic Brake Compatability.

Anyone know you if you can mix and match shimano hydraulic brake cailpers and levers. i.e. run hone calipers with deore levers, or deore calipers with xt levers etc...

and I think I know where I can source some shimano levers cheap, but they aren't hone ones.
