My new bike

Ive finally made a decision and picked up my new bike. In the end, after a narrow escape with a Trek 1.9 which luckily was faulty, I picked up my new Specialized Roubaix Elite this morning. Ive just been out for 25 miles, I would have done more but it started to piss down, on my usual route. I found that I struggled a bit more than I usually do. Im putting this down to a new riding position. Would I be correct in thinking this way? My old bike was more aggressive whereas the Roubaix is quite relaxed. Does this make a difference to anybody else?

Good choice Dave, I got one a couple of months ago and have found it great. I found it better than my old hack, but then it was a cheap Decathlon frame with Sora and no carbon anywhere so it difference is there.

I guess it's just the new riding position and after 2 or 3 outings you will get used to it, if not get it back to you LBS and get them to check seat postion and see if you need to change your stem.

Ive just been out again this morning and for the first 10 miles, including a steady climb, I thought I was going to collapse. It was only later on in the ride that I started to feel "at one" with the bike. The comfort is amazing and the smooth ride without all the rattles and buzz I used to get is so welcome.

I think we are going to get on well!!!!!!!:lol:

I chose a Trek over the Specialized as I preferred the aggressive lower position of the Trek (older Madone) but you should not feel it to be hard going, are you pushing too hard thinking that new bike means new super powers in the lung and leg department!

    I did that too... :?
