Shimano MTB levers with old Shimano 600 caliper brakes.
Hi
I want to use some Shimano MTB V-brake levers that are probably about 10 years old with some 1980s Shimano 600 caliper brakes. Any reason why that wouldn't work?
I'm not exactly sure what the levers are, but they say 'servo-wave' on them and most of the components on the MTB are Shimano STX RC.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi there.
No, I don't think it will work, the v-brake levers will pull the wrong amount of cable for a caliper.

if they are cantilever levers they'll be fine.
If they are V-brake levers then no - you'll not get enough power out of them
STX was before V brakes came along so they could be fineFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
They are definitely V-brakes, not cantis.0
