Strange Foot Pain

I have developped some strange pain in my right foot, it started about 10 days ago, when I got off my bike, thought I must have just stepped off it awkwardly, because my foot started hurting all of a sudden (on the outside of my foot, sort of halfway down the middle, where the arch is on the opposite side). I didn't notice it then when cycling, it only started hurting again when I got off the bike and walked around. But now it hurts quite badly every time I stop and start and I can feel it constantly when walking (although it's only slightly painful then), although once I'm properly on the bike, I can usually get rid of the pain by wriggling my foot about into a different position.
It's a really weird pain, hard to describe, a bit like something between the onset of a cramp and a dropped bone. Bit worried as it worse now than it was and there is only a week to go till Amsterdame... Anybody got any ideas what it could be and how to get rid of it???

One day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!

you might want to try your GP. I hear that they are quite good at diagnosing stuff0

Could be a trapped nerve at a guess, or possibly you've just given a tendon a slight tweak. Take the weight off it as much as you can and maybe try a tubigrip bandage or equivilant. Other than that no ideas!
One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.0 -

Really??? Would have never thought of that! No seriously, I just thought I'd ask on here first, in case anybody has had a similar problem...One day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!0 -
i have had similar problems with my foot.dont know if my problem is exactly the same as yours but does it appear at the base of your big toe area.i have seen a physio and to cut a long story short my diagnosis is tight calf/quad/hamstring muscles.reqular strectching has help a great deal in controlling this condition.0

No, mine was on the other side...strangely enough a change of shoes seems to have sorted it! Had worn the others for riding before and never had a problem, so no idea why my foot was suddenly playing up...One day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!0 -
it could be that the padding in the shoe had worn down as you get similar problems in running with worn shoes0
