it says on the resevoir which oil to use, mineral oil is only in shimano brakes, it'll be dot 4 or dot 5 for avids, i dont see any problem why is wouldn't work however the avid calliper will be designed to work with the rotor provided same with hope, hope callipers are small to fit their rotors

    hope this helps

I read somewhere, but don't know for sure, that the hope floating rotor can be made to work with Avids, however you have to cut the tabs off the Avid pads as they hit the Hope fouling connectors between the spider and rotor parts.

and the point is you can NOT use mineral brake oil in brakes designed for DOT oil.

so your Avids use DOT and DOT ONLY.

Oh and they use DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 they do NOT use DOT 5 as DOT 5 is silicon based and is not compatible with any other system.
