Might help you if you picked a better topic than rockshox.... I mean, how are we to know what you want to know about rockshox?
FFS.
Tools needed
Allen Keys (4mm, 5mm and 6mm - possibly more)
Rubber/Plastic Mallet
Strong flat blade screwdriver
File
New star nut.
Right. Simple, but c'mon, changing a BB isn't exactly in the same league.
Assuming you have no specific tools, this is how you could bodge it:
1. Remove front wheel, all brake components from the fork.
2. Undo top cap on stem and remove. Then undo the stem bolts, pull the stem off the forks steerer tube.
3. Remove forks from frame. Sometimes need persuasion from a suitable twating device. The headset will fall apart at this point, make sure you note how it all goes back together.
4. Get a screw drive and the afore mentioned suitable twating device and carefully bash the crown race off the steerer tube. This is the ring of metal sitting around the steerer tube at the junction between steerer and crown.
5. Measure how long the steerer tube should be on the new forks and cut to size. DO NOT CUT SHORT OR YOU WILL HAVE FUCKED YOUR FORKS.
6. Use the file to remove the burr from around the edge of where you just cut.
7. Take the new star nut, screw the bolt and top cap in a good few complete turns, and use it to help you whack a new star nut into the new steerer.
8. Using a mallet, carefully tap the crown race onto the new forks, making sure it's seated flat against the crown.
9. Get headset parts and slide forks into frame.
10. Put all spacers on and stem, job done.[/b]Shut up. And ride your bike.Originally posted by Jon
