Saracen Hazzard Pro Advice on replacing rear shock

I'm a mountain biker on a budget have recently bought a saracen hazzard pro and I've been told that it benefits greatly from replacing the rear shock. Can anyone give me advice or recommendations on what type of shock to buy, how much it would cost and other any points to note.

You need to know:

Eye to eye measurement of the shock
Shock shaft travel (also may be written on spring)
Spring rate (as above, unless you go for an air shock)
Mounting hardware
