I've broken off the rear gear cable adjuster, the threads are stuck inside the frame mounted metal holder, this holder is riveted to the frame. The metal threads of the adjuster are stuck inside and i don't think there's anyway of getting them out, unless there's any good ideas out there ?, if not either i need to remove the riveted holder and get someone to rivet another back on ?, or knock that off and fit a new one that has somekind of fitting that i could do myself, like a tiewrap affair.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you, i'm bikeickleless without

A device called a stud extractor might do it for you - kind of like a tapered tap with a left hand thread which you could screw (anticlockwise) into the hole the cable went through. Hard to be sure without seeing the broken fitting, but try a good hardware shop.

Thanks, are B & Q likely to stock them ? and are they something you could use with the proximity of the frame (downtube) ?

    thanks again

I'm gathering your refering to the cable adjuster on the downtube. I had one sheer off in a crash and had to remove the threaded portion also. I used apair of small needle nose pliers which I closed then put the end inside the threaded part then expanded the needle nose arms and turned gently until removed. Was quite easy actually.

Happened on this thread by chance and picked up a few tips of use - I've a similar problem with the front mech cable stop on my 'cross bike. Thanks folks.
