Anyone have any tips on how to free a seized pedal? I want to replace my flats with SPDs but one of the flats is VERY stubborn and I am close to rounding the nut off. It was well greased but for some reason won't budge. :(

15mm spanner + mallet. Sorted. Turn it the right way.
Shut up. And ride your bike.

I wasn't until I realised  and this is why it's gone so tight.

Mmm, I think I did this when one of mine seized (and I know better  ). Tried for over an hour to get it off including the hammer & spanner approach. Just ended up with a 15.5mm spanner and chunks out of the crank arm.

Took it to my LBS and they got the pedal off in seconds using a good pedal wrench. As Nick says it needs more force, best applied in controlled manner with the correct tool. My advice would be got to your LBS and either buy a decent pedal spanner (Park tools) or if you are fitting higher end Shimano SPDs get your LBS to remove the pedal and buy something at the same time  (XT SPDs use an 8mm allen key rather than a 15mm spanner so if that's what you're changing to the spanner will be a bit of a single use purchase).

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
