Scott Scale 35 or Specialized Stumpjumper HT?

I'm looking at purchasing a mountain bike in the coming weeks and it's come down to two bikes:

The Specialized Stumpjumper:

Scott Scale 35:

I like the fact that the Scott is a full XT equipped machine, but the Specialized apparently has the better frame...

Suggestions please?

    Try them both out?

Assuming the ride is equal, I'd usually go for the better frame - drivetrain will wear out long before the frame does and a better frame = better upgrade potential.
  • I agree try them out.
I own both a stumpy and a Scott and personally I feel the Scott is a much better frame. I rememner reading that the predacessor to the Scale which were thr Pro racing frames were one of the best frames ever made. i have to say i also own a 2003 Scott pro racing which is my favourite. In fact I have 2 Scotts and 3 stumpys, but my main machine is a Cannondale HT now. At the end of the day it depends on how you feel on the frame.

The price equivalent of the Scale 35 is the Stumpjumper HT Expert, which has a very similar level of equipment. Best bet is to ride them both.
