Prefilled slime innertubes, any good?

Looking on the Halfords website, I see that they sell SLiME Innertubes prefilled with slime inside them, they are £8.99 each, does anyone know if those tubes are any good and worth the extra £4 on top of the price of a normal tube, or should I just stick with a normal tube?

Cheaper to buy the Slime in a bottle and DIY. £4 for a tube isn't especially cheap either, try buying in bulk to get much better deals

As to the actual effectiveness of the tubes, opinions are mixed. Some swear buy them, others find they don't work at all. Same story with tyre liners. Your best bet is to try a few and see how you get on!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0 -

They seem to work for my mate but they are heavier than standard tubes so not for the weight Conscious.0

Used them and a waste of money
Changed back to the old ones, best advice change to tubless
also in doing this you drop your rolling mass of the wheels by 2lbs0 -
The other alternative is to buy some lightweight 100g Schwalbe tubes which have a removable valve core and use them with JRA wheelmilk, aavailable from www.justridingalong.com
Combined weight of wheel milk and tube will be same as a standard weight tube, and a lot lighter than the slime verision.
Easier to set up than a tubeless conversion, though it will only give you protection against thorn punctures, and won`t prevent pinch flats.2006 Giant XTC
