Replacing damaged handlebar with an Easton EA70 XC and would like to know torque settings for:

1. stem clamp (two bolts, made by Specialized and came as standard on 2001 Rockhopper Pro)

2. Bar ends (Specialized aluminium)

3. Break levers (Shimano XT)

4. Gear shifters (Shimano XT, assume the torque will be the same as for break levers?)

Thanks in advance.

I don't know specifically but its usually around 5Nm. Easton have probably got a spec sheet you can download.

On Easton they say torque to the spec of the Stem

Now, for their stem they state.
Holding the front wheel between your knees, carefully verify that the stem is sufficiently tight by using smooth and gentle sideways pressure on the handlebars. If the handle bars twist, you will need to realign the stem and re-torque to 30 foot pounds or 40.6 Nm.• Adjust the angle of the handlebar drops to final position and torque faceplate bolts to a torque of 60-70 in. lbs. or 7-8 Nm.

Now the 7-8 Nm is probably OK for the stem, but they've got the stem to top a little wrong on the conversion from 30 ft lbs to 40.6Nm - that'll shear the bolt nicely :?
