Full Suspension issue - Cannondale Rush

Hi,
I have just bought a Cannondale Rush from a friend. The problem is that When I even make a slight turn the pedal scrapes on the ground, it's even worse on really rough terrain. I have pumped the rear shock extremely high yet the problem still occurs. I'm not a real heavy rider and have never had this problem before.
I'm considering buying smaller cranks but I really don't think that is the root of the cause. I new to full suspension bikes so my knowledge is limited to say the least so any advice would be greatly welcomed.
