Is the pink jersey in trouble? Surely one of them must be only be a few minutes down on GC? I had Iglinsky as a long shot on stage 2 so i guess i should go for him again. Could be 0 points all round on the PTP again

EDIT: A quick scan down the GC shows Russ at 1:39 so the pink jersey IS in trouble

Why are Barloworld (Cummings and Thomas) doing the donkey work for Leekygas ?

See the stage has been shortened by 36km due to rider protest - they are not doing the finish circuit now apparently but not sure how much impact this will have.

I thought the grand tours had called an end to the super long stages to help alleviate the need to dope? Stage 6 was supposed to be 265km, only 25km short of Milan Sanremo territory.

May be looking to get rid of it ahead of tomorrow's first mountain stage, plus then he and hi team can sit up and have a little rest today. None of the riders in the break would be a threat on the final GC, and unless they win big time at the finish only a couple of the escapees would be likely to cling on to the maglia rosa after tomorrow.

I suppose that makes sense - give it away today in the expectation that they can win it back tomorrow or that they have had enough and need to concentrate on the longer term now

I think the main thing is that there's a harder stage to come tomorrow (and alot more harder stages to come later), so there's no point wearing the team out trying to keep the jersey, especially when it looks fairly warm today, plus it's on those undulating, grippy roads.

Also to be fair, Pellizotti is more likely to be mid to bottom reaches of the top ten rather than a true GC contender, for Leaky Gas Nibali is more likely to be their man, so that could be at the back of their minds.

Did anyone watching RAI just see that cracking 'Faces of the Giro' thing

Nice finish there, not only very good for a finale but rather attractive too.

A win for an Irish team.

Now for LPR to win us the Giro

Not much of a spoiler, today. Blink and you missed it. Hope we get more of tomorrow's mountains.

Yup Pellizotti won there two years ago, hence my pick of him in the PTP for today. Rather undone by him going and getting in pink, but meh!

And my intended pick for a forthcoming stage is now in pink - bugger, he'll never get it now.
