Flight Deck Computer - how slow can it read?

I have Shimano Flight Deck computer which works fine until hitting very steep hills where speed drops below about 5 mph, it then cuts out or the reading jumps around. The sender unit is on the limit of distance from the computer so I am wondering if it would improve if I move it or if I just need to pedal quicker. Doe anyone have a Flight Deck that can read consistently below 5mph?
