Hi
Does anyone know if there is a nice scenic route from Edinburgh to Glasgow? Or is it impossible to avoid the main roads?
Thanks!

The route you want is the NCN Clyde to Forth Cycle Route (Glasgow - Edinburgh) - NN75, more info and a map can be purchased here.

The best section is on the old railway route between Bathgate and Airdrie.
Well, to just outside Airdrie actually.
In common with most urban cycle paths from there on the surface is littered with broken glass!
Look out for the various sculptures on the route.
You can\'t be optimistic if you\'re wearing misty optics.0 -
Out through Hamilton.
Along clydeside to lanark
Then to Carnwath and out the Langwang
Then take cycle path along side water of Leith pathway at Balerno
all the way into the city centre
MAGIC

The cycle route is tortuous, really long, fairly hilly & slow. The Edinburgh end is OK, but you don't need to take it across the middle.
This route is pretty nice: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Gl ... o-Crammond
either starting or finishing with the cycle path between Edinburgh & Crammond.
I've done this a few times, with or without embellishments, & it's fairly good...0
