Giant road bike

I'm looking at upgrading from my trusty OCR2 to something a little nicer. Probably around the £1K mark, I'd like to stick with Giant 'cos I reckon the build quality is good and they seem to be well specced, plus my LBS is a Giant dealer and will probably do me a good part-ex deal. I'm not racing but looking to rack-up some serious miles prior to doing Land's-End to JOG next year (I don't want a tourer).
Any recommendations welcome

you can pick up a last year spec giant TCR composite / 105 for that money ...

or i have built my wife a summer bike based on a TCR alliance frame & ultegra...it is very comfy & very light/strong...

excellent £VFm...i would for a day to day bike go down the alliance route...

The SCR range is a more comfortable geometry unless you're already well used to (and happy with) standard geometry. There's not really anything at the £1k mark though, they jump from aluminium frames sub-£1k to the carbon frames a bit over £1k. I almost bought a SCR C3 but ended up with a Specialized Roubaix as they had offers on and better local dealers.
  • Just bought a used Giant TCR with half carbon frame and a few upgrades to replace my Specialized Allez and love it. Its the bike i should have bought in the first place, i've had it a week and have clocked 150 miles on it and its great, oh apart from needing a shorter stem...
    This is why!

Thanks for the feedback folks, I'll see what LBS has to say.
