I have Cateye TomoXC (wired) and I bought 2 years ago for 15pounds.
So far it served me well.
    It has:
    - Curent speed
    - Max speed
    - Total distance
    - Trip distance
    - Elapsed time
    - Average speed
    - 12h Clock.
And I can choose km/h or mph.

Above list is about all you need,

until you decide measuring your heartrate and cadence is necessary

Wired work fine unless you ride through lots of undergrowth, overhanging foliage, or have a tendancy to fall off.

and on the wireless side, I've never noticed it lose connection. After all, it's only going a few inches.
