Power Link for 10 Speed Dura Ace..Yes or No?

Ive just bought a new Tek that has the 10 speed Dura Ace chain joined with a Power Link.
In the past I have always used the included permanent joining pin included with a new Shimano chain so this is a move away from a tried and tested method for me. However the ability to split the chain to remove and clean it is certainly a huge advantage by using the power link.

Can anybody tell me there experiences (Good or Bad) when using these links and also which ones are the best to match to 10 speed Dura Ace.
I wonder if Dave Millar was using one yesterday in the Giro!!!

    KMC quick links are good.

The failure rate of the quick links will be lower than normal joining pins, due to a lower chance of mechanic error. People can easily put the joining pins in wrong, but it's difficult to put a quick link in wrong.

I agree with red, I have kmc link in bot my chains.
I think KMC actually make the dura ace chain anway?

I've just fitted a 10 speed Sram chain but the power link is a bitch to open and close. Would a KMC quick link fit a Sram chain ?.

The SRAM 10 speed powerlink is meant as one use only I believe, so you shouldn't repeatedly open and close it.

You could also consider the connex 10 speed reusable link.

I've just fitted one to my Felt crosser a couple of weeks ago (Shimano 10 speed chain & drive train) and had no problems to date.

I found the 'Shimano' 6.0mm Connex link great with the Campag 10 speed ultra light chain. Two etapes and many miles with no probs at all. Fit it the right way round (lump on top as it passes above the chainstay). It is re-fittable making chain cleaning very easy.

I use KMC power link (for 10 speed) on a dura ace 10 speed chain, it works fine for me. Just make sure you fit a new one when you replace the chain

I do the same am timcla above. would much rather use a link than a pin. Feels safer.

It is in the way you can undo and remove the link , remove the chain then re-fit the chain and do the link back up, as many times as you like with ease. But when the chain needs replaceing fit a NEW LINK even though the old one will still works.

We have both KMC and Wippermann Connex links.
KMC on a KMC chain, Wippermann on a Campag. chain (as it's cheaper than buying more Campag. links, which have to be bought as a pack with additional short length of chain pre-fitted)!

Both have done less than 500 miles.
    Both are working fine.

I prefer the Wippermann Connex 10 speed over the KMC.
The Wippermann is easier to detach/re-attach - The KMC feels as if it may wear out if detached too often (I like to clean my chain at least once a week).

Given the alarming number of chain breaks I've seen on recent sportives, I intend on carrying one with a chain tool.

Obviously, just ensure if you're running a 10 speed setup, you purchase a 10 speed link!
