i weigh 82kg and want to run my all mountain 1's (2006) at 60psi will this be ok? also recently when testing different psi at 60ish after some bouncing and small jumps the forks lost 20psi on the DH setting, however when i reinflated them and tested again using the AM setting no air was lost does this suggest i have a major problem?

if you are losing air then the seals have gone. of the bushes are wirn and that is allowing the legs to move seperate to the lowers allowing air to get past the seals.

am i safe to use them for a little while as i can't really afford that atm, they don't seem to be losing much air it was a one off :S:S0

Quite separate from your air loss problem, you sound like you're running your forks quire hard. How much sag do you have at 60psi? i'm not sure as i've been running them today at 60psi doing my usual drops etc and they have not lost a single bit of air according to my pump, though once when i checked them then checked them again straight after i had removed the pump then reatached it they were down to 50psi, could my pump be at blame?
and yes they're pretty much rigid on the road but have enough give on drops and rough stuff its just so they handle bigger stuff without bottoming out.0 -
Its normal to lose air by attaching you pump.
As soon as you connect the pump air is released into the valve of the pump.
Attach the pump, pump to desired psi, then remove the pump.
Attach it again, and you will notice a new pressure different to your original setting.
repeat the above a couple of times and note the changes - a pattern will appear.
It's normal to lose a few psi. Its low-volume, high pressure.0 -
cheers cheesey, its just that one time 20psi had disappeared though had been running without the red top cap for that so? you never know, trying to work out what seals i need you got any idea??0

It's not unusual to lose 15-20psi. As I said there's a lot of pressure in the chambers of the fork/shock - > High pressure and low volume
I'm sure that your forks are fine and don't need new seals. Check Marz webby for your weight/PSI ratio. The guage should be accurate, but let's assume that you have put 60psi in them. When you attach the pump again it could/will read 40-50psi
When you disconnect the pump, you will hear hissing, but this is coming from the pump and not the forks.0 -

so nick do you think it was just me reading the pump wrong? though howcome sometimes there is a larger difference than others but always with 15 or so psi of original setting?0

SS, not particularly quick my shock pump adaptor thingy takes a while to get in right place/screw all the way down same on way out.0
