Headsets ?

On my nearly refurbished giant it has an old zoom stem and i would like to change it for a better one but the bike shop said they cant do it because its a threaded one and the newer ones are threadless??

Another lbs told me they sell a convertor, does anyone know abouyt this please??

    changing headsets or changing stems?

    Im unsure here, its the part the handlebars attach to and then it then goes into the frame and into the forks, i then tighten it with one bolt allen key.

    so you want to change the stem without changing the headset?

    they why have a topic heading as Headsets?

    you need one of these.
