Hi,
I took my bike in yesterday to my LBS as both my brake levers had no play and where tight, and the front brake rubbed against the rotar, so they said the brakes needed to be bled and serviced, and they charged me £40 does that seem right as no pads where changed and now the back brake is rubbing against the rotar, which they say is not a problem and will fade away, and also to do with the rear end flexing  .

Thank You, tantra.

Maybe a little more than average - but they are right about the little bit of rubbing, it should die down as it all settles in.

£40????? My LBS Charges me a tenner! Even did 'em for free last time 'cos he wasn't completely happy with 'em.

You need to develop a relationship with your LBS, buy a few bits from him from time to time, he'll soon become your best friend (especially when you take your steed in, in bits after bodging a job you've tried + failed to do yourself!)

I think there are some big regional variations in what shops charge.I`m afraid if you live in the southeast, this is quite typical.

Get reading up on park tools, and diy. Most of these jobs are easier than you think.

Went to my LBS and they said they would bleed my front and rear Juicy carbons for £16. £40 seems steep, what else other than bleeding is involved in the service?
