OK, so I'm looking at the Heckler, but the x-large is only a 20'5" frame. Will this be OK as I'm 6'6". It says it will on their website but not sure. Would you recommend a longer stem?

Commencal 5.5 is 20.9" in an XL

Yeti 575 is 21.5 in an XL but I can't find anywhere that can deliver a custom build in the next 2 weeks that also does finance!

Any advice?

    try before you buy...

i have a heckler top bike.. but i must say they kinda of on the small side i 5ft.9 with a inside leg of 31 inch i opted for a medium for the chuckabilty i could of got a large. the med is just about ok for me but on the small side of ok... even with a lay back seat post the xl heckler may be uncomortable for your size..

i know a chapppppppppyyyyyy who's 6ft.3 he has a xl rockymountain slayer and a xl white 46 he rates them both...

i would definatly try to sit on the bike to size it up before you part with you hardearned cash.

Are you worried it won't be tall enough or long enough? If you're worried about how tall, measure you're inside leg from between your legs to the floor.

So the seat tube on an XL Heckler is 520mm, cranks are 175mm and Allowing 25mm for the thickness of your saddle.

Lots of seatposts are available in 400mm. They need at least 100mm insertion so you can only have 300mm showing

    520+175+25+300 = 1020mm

So as long as your inside leg doesn't measure more than 1020, you should be OK for height.

Length is harder to calculate, you need to either compare to an existing bike you're happy with, or try before you buy.

6'6" here as well, quite a long torso too I think. I sold on a XL GT Avalanche a while back due to it being too short in the body. I've always fit Specialized XLs though oddly, that's going by an Enduro, FSR XC and Stumpy HT.

My Meta was perfect though (fortunately), I wouldn't try and fix a short bike with a long stem, the steering will go to crap. Just try them out, it's instantly obvious if they're not big enough. I ordered the Avalanche in at my shop after trying the large and assuming XL would fit, oops.
