I have a 10 yr old mtb which was quite expensive at the time, and one of the things I like is that the freewheel is completely silent. It's a Shimano hub with 'silent clutch' written on it somewhere. Can you get this kind of thing on a road bike, or is it necessary to put up with the racket from the freewheel?

Or do you roadies never stop pedalling??

They vary from manufacturer to manufacturer - my shimano hubs are quiet, whereas the freewheel on my Mavic Aksiums is relatively noisey
Has the head wind picked up or the tail wind dropped off???
