Your opinions most welcomed on the following tyre choices I have for road race and fast training. Criteria being the following 200g or under, minimal rolling resistance. My shortlist is

Michelin Pro Race3
Conti GP Attack / Force combo 08 black chili
Schwalbe Ultremo

I can get all these tyres at a similar price. I have discounted Conti GP4000 as I have had many pairs of these and fancy a change. Would love some user opinions

Thanks

For me, it would be PR3s every time. Haven't tried the 3s as yet, but have extensively on the originals and PR2s and they were excellent. The third incarnation can only be better.

I have to be honest I am a fan of the PR2's but then other than GP4000's I havent used much else in the past, so I was wondering whether I was missing out on a world of ace tyres that I hadnt yet tried

Have you tried the GP4000S (not the plural, the Black Chilli 'S' version)? They're a fanstastic tyre, so I'd either go for them or the Attack/Force combo.

Has anyone run on the new Attack force combo, how do they compare with the GP4000's

I use Attack/Force. I'm pretty happy with them, I've never had a puncture on them. I'm using them with Conti Race Light 28 tubes. They are nicely treaded and grip well, great if the roads a little bit wet. For me that makes them a great race tire as you always feel for the guy who gets a puncture straight off the line.

Yeah, I like the Attack/Force also - if only because the front and rear are designed to wear at closer to the same rate. I don't know if this means one of them is over priced or not....

They aren't super light, super grippy, super durable ... but they do everything pretty well.

I've not had a problem with my PR2s so I dare say the PR3s will be even better.

I used to be a committed conti user, but since swopping over to campag wheels I find it too difficult to fit them. So the Attack/Force combo will probably be pretty sound.

I have just changed from Conti Triathlons (basically GP4000 without the tread pattern) to the Michelin Pro 3 Race and have to say I'm really pleased. They're grippy and roll fast - superb tyre.

I've not used the Chilli compound on the conti's but I have been disappointed with Contis performance on the Gatorskins (no grip!!) and GP Triathlon tyres (fell apart and cracked badly in no time).

Go for the PR 3's you wont be disappointed. Heard the Schwalbe's are a bit delicate?

If Michelin started a road bike tire religion, I'd be in line for a baptism on day 1. I've ridden Michelin since the Axial Pro and have never been let down. Low rolling resistance, impressive grip even in the wet, almost no punctures... My experiences with Continental and Vittoria yielded good grip and handling, but a major increase in punctures. I've never ridden Shwalbe, so I wouldn't know.

    Michelin all the way, IMO.
