It was no fluke. They are class players, playing the wrong code.
That Baabaas try is the most overrated ever.
Weak, inevitably disrganised and tired defence. They
were all sideburns, B&H and beer bellies in those days.
Best rugby tries:
Jonah v England, 1995
Horan V ABs, 1991
Blanco v Aust 19870 -
Best try ever - Tommy van Vollenhiven's - Saints v Wigan 1961 Rugby League cup final.0

fluke or not he should have caught it the first timePurveyor of sonic doom
Very Hairy Roadie - FCN 4
Fixed Pista- FCN 5
Beared Bromptonite - FCN 140 -
That comment about tired players is wrong as the Barbarian try was in the first 5 minutes. Moreover the lauded try is a fluke and in contrast the union try involved the switch from attack to defence and relatively few tackles werew missed.Phil Bennet like Barry John was elusive and nimble.0

What's so amazing? It was only scored from five yards out? Every tackle the ball goes dead and they start again - so in the end the try was scored from five yards out. Unfortunately the laws of the game actively encourage players to run into tackles rather than avoid them.
No slur on the players you understand, just on the laws of the game.
And before any rugby league fans jump on me and start accusing me of a union bias, I don't particularly like either code. I used to enjoy union but the laws of the game have been arsed about with too much and seem to discourage creative open rugby. The curious thing is that the idea behind the changes was to try to encourage a more open game, but it seems have worked the oposite way. However it could well be that it's not the rules but the cynical professional ethic. After all soccer is as dull as watching cement set, and the more elite the competition the more boring the game seems to be.
Most team field sports bore me, but when I'm in Ireland I like to watch gaelic football. Perhaps it's because I don't really understand what's going on."Swearing, it turns out, is big and clever" - Jarvis Cocker0
