rockhopper comp 08 gear noise

Hi just brought a 4 month old rockhopper comp

When changing gear it bangs as if slipping down a gear and also rubs/sounds like it wants to change again

Im new to bikes how can i fix this in easy terms!

    adjust the cable tension.

    ok ill have a look

    No i just got it today its only 4 months old it was serviced january!

    ok this is my first bike, i have played about with the screws on the derailleur at back and the chain now rubs

    It is also skipping gears now, like dropping 2 it does not use the biggest cog on the back wheel either.

    Please someone help me
