Any problems with Giant MPH brakes?

Hi, I'm about to head off on a 2 week road trip on my Giant terrago trail. However when I recently went out on a hot day my back brake locked up and I had to make adjustments to the chamber to free it up again. I'm slightly concerned that something like this or worse might happen on my trip and am weighing up whether it's worth taking my old v-braked bike. Does anybody have anything to say about the reliability of Giant MPHs?

Thanks

they do need adjusting in use as they can lock up of go soft. and that is why you have the adjuster as you need to compensate for wear and heat.

if looked after they are fine.
