Looks like it's gonna be...
Storck Fascenario - £10,000+
It might cost the same as a small family car, but it weighs less. Considerably less, in fact - the carbon fiber frame is lighter than a bag of sugar and once you add on wheels and everything else it's still under 5Kg.
Posh Bikes
M5 Tica Low Racer Recumbent - €2,474.79 to € 3,670.00
Want to lie back and enjoy the scenery? The M5 recumbent will allow you too, but if you put your back into it, then you could reach speeds of 43km/h.

Watching the show now, they are comparing HDMI cables.
Is a bike a gadget?
How can they feature on the same show as HDMI cables and digital cameras?0 -

That was appalling wasn't it! (We actually heard about this, but were then told they weren't going to run the piece....)Rob Spedding, Editor, Cycling Plus0

It was so bad it was almost funny. Someone who can't ride a bent "racing" someone who's not been on a bike in years on a £10k road bike...
I liked the amusing "facts" that they kept throwing in. First they couldn't decide if it was a hi-racer or a lo-racer (they say it's a lo-racer above & referred to the records the lo-racer holds, but that's quite clearly a hi-racer), then there was the silly quote that you could get up to 33mph on one (which actually refers to the speed you can get at 250W & is nicked from the website), then the statement that the 'bent had 19 gears (which would give it a terribly thin chain!)
I'd lay odds that:
That's the most embarrassing crash of a £10k road bike you'll see;
That you'll not see anyone starting a £2.5k 'bent like that again;
& that neither of them could tell the difference between those bikes & something bodged out of welded tubing from the scrapyard...0 -
Oh dear it was pretty embarrasing wasnt it? Can't imagine its persuaded many people to part with £200 let alone £10k on a new bike....0

Yes, it was crap. Predictable crap.
Widening the debate a bit. We've all got areas - work or leisure - where we're quite knowledgeable. Mostly these specialist areas don't get much mass media coverage. Then every so often the press or broadcast media pick up on a story on which we are well informed. And, often, the information is incomplete, out of date or just plain wrong.
So it makes me wonder, what about the credit crunch, Gordon Brown's leadership, cyclone in Burma etc etc. Is the reporting of these stories all a load of crap as well?
I'm getting old and cynical (and slower!)Where the neon madmen climb0 -

Is the prime motivation for entering media to share information with the populous in an efficient manner or for large salaries and being recognisable?
Is I think the same question, just easier to answer0 -
Well I certainly entered the media for the recognition and the huge salary...Editor, Cycling Plus.
