Brake Modulation

Cany anyone give me a simple explanation of modulation on hydro disc brakes. My avids feel spongey to me (I am aa new hydro user) but one person said it is to do with the modulation.

no modulation is Digital. either on or off. lots of modulation is like analogue.

a gradual change from off to on.

brakes can have give in then but should not be pump upable (unless new and you are pumping the pads to the disc).

new brakes? aligned correctly not bending twisting the disc? go use they will bed in and be fine.
