Roof racks and carbon bikes?

I have a Halfords roof rack that secures the bike by clamping onto the frame.

Given that I am about to shell out for a carbon frame will I still be able to use this rack? Basically I'm not sure whether the carbon tubing is designed to withstand that kind of force.

Thoughts welcome?

    some frames are fine, some are not. many will come with a big warning sign about clamping forces of work stands, etc..

    i use a thule roof rack that clamps the forks with the front wheel removed because of this.
