Good looking, comfortable helmet not too expensive. Any recommendations? I quite like the look of the Giro Pneumo in matt black.
Is it true they should be changed every three years regardless of impact?

Having seen a Pneumo save a colleague's head from a very serious accident in recent weeks I can vouch for it's saftey...the impact was hard enough to split the foam and in-moulding while the rider sustained 2 cracked ribs, a cracked vertebra and torn shoulder ligaments.
Colleague looked and felt a bit rough but still cycled another 450 miles over the remaining 6 days of a trip...they build 'em 'ard in Yorkshire 8)0 -

Did he do the last 450 miles without a helmet?0 -
No, he continued using the same lid - we were in Mallorca and he wanted to use the crash replacement policy that Giro offer. Not ideal, but I guess a damaged lid is better than no lid at all.
The exact cause of the accident remain a mystery but his 20-25mph superman over the bars landing on his shoulder/head was sickening to hear. Not wanting to open the whole helmet/no helmet can of worms it's my opinion that in some, not all, accidents a helmet can reduce the injuries and from the resulting injuries (and complete lack of a head injury) I strongly believe that was definitely one of those occasions.0
