Hi Guys

I need to get some decent skewers for the Specailized Langster SS.

I don't wanna pay the earth, but I also don't rubbish.

Anyone got any tried and tested?

Secondly what is the basic difference between a road skewer and mtb skewer. Is there a difference? :?

    The best functionally are standard Shimano (as long as you're not worried about weight).

    The difference between road and MTB is mainly that the rear will be 5mm longer on the MTB version to allow for the 5mm wider rear spacing.

    I suppose like anyone, I am concerned about weight but I can't see it being that significant.

    Thanks for that, I have the standard shimano in my Rockhopper and they haven't let me down, I will keep my eye out for the road version.

    You could try a allen screw type. They have no quick release, just
    a straight thru bolt that you tighten with an allen wrench. They cost less, weigh less,
    and are a bit more secure than QR's as far as theft goes. Only thing is you need to carry
    an allen key that fits them, which most people carry anyway, in the form of a multi tool.
    I call them slow releases.
