Changing wheel size

Hi everyone,
a quick question that you might want to shoot me down in flames about. I have a 27" wheel street bike and want to put 700c wheels on (lighter, better tyre choice etc.) but will have to replace the brakes, are there any out there that I can fit? I have centre pulls on at the moment, but no bosses for V-type one. This is an old Raleigh frame, 531 but in good nick. I can't justify buying a whole new bike at the moment and have been given some 700c wheels that I would love to use.
Any ideas, or am I just going to have to go to some cycle jumbles to find some tyres?
