New seatpost for my litespeed

I've got a Litespeed Vortex which I use for Audax and cyclosportive riding. Currently I've got a USE Alien seatpost (the old one with two long thin 3mm clamping bolts). The seatpost is really beginning to annoy me due the the incessant creaking I get from the saddle clamping arrangement. If I strip it down and put copper-slip grease on the mating surfaces it goes away for a few hundred km but then returns. I've also already snapped one of the 3mm bolts due to over tightening. I'm therefore looking for a new post. The choice is bewildering ! I'm not obsessed by weight but don't want anything heavier than necessary. Must be available in 31.6mm. Thinking of a Thompson but I realise this is a MTB post and may be over-engineered for road use. Any suggestions ?

Thomson post in either 'standard' or 'masterpiece' format, the latter being more expensive. Over-engineered is not an issue I have a problem with. Otherwise, Bontrager/Ritchey or perhaps Selcof?

Use one of the newer Aliens on my Vortex and works pretty well, just a pain to adjust as have to loosen the whole thing completely and start again each time.

Used a Thomson on my previous Giant. Not over engineered, these are beautiful pieces of work! Adjusting was superb. Shame they don't do a carbon version with the same adjustment setup.

Get a USE shim to take the tube down to 27.2 and take your pick from every post under the sun.
You'll also notice a marked difference in comfort, with no downside.
I've an '07 Siena with that set up and it works perfectly.
