damn, been riding mtb's for years, have come off before but never had any major damage, so with two weeks to go until the Isle of Whiite festival and the 100k enduro, what happens, my front tyre washes out on a gravel track and I end up with a ten pence patch of skin ripped off from the top inside edge of my elbow... the Doc reckons i should rap on it!
I've been stitched up, but a couple of questions...
1. I don't want to give in, but should I swallow my pride and let it pass?
2. Does anyone know of any super meds or drinks or even voodoo magic to make my recovery quicker
3. if I just tape it up do you think it will be ok!
cheers

Mate, I had three stitches in a very deep finger wound about three weeks ago.
Your stitches should come out after 10 days and after that, I was back to normal (scar excepted) so I think you'll be ok if you heal as fast as me
Only possible problem is if the arm movement keeps affecting the healing process I would say.0 -
Aloe Vera gel will help the healing process, you'll need to put it on 3-4 times a day. Make sure you get decent quality stuff though or it won't do much.0

Cheers guys,
had a bit of an infection but anti biotics cleared it up, in fact the nurse is so chuffed with the healing process that I'm gonna try and crack a swift 60k this weekend. Amazing what a decent diet and fitness can do to heal your body!!0 -
manuka honey is the dogs, the docs use it in patches/strips to promote healing quickly and keep the wounds cleaner, you can get the manuka honey in most supermarkets but to get the stuff in the patches am unsure if you would get it from a pharmacy or not.
maybe worth a gonever hurts your eyes to look on the bright side of life...0 -
and let the air at it as much as possible! try not to keep it totally enclosed with any tape! Breathable coverings are better for the healing process in my experienceWhenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

My Grandad always used to say 'Show it the bedclothes!' If its got to a stage where its not too tender, leave it open overnight and for as much time as possible during the day. It gives the new skin a chance to harden quite soon while newer stuff grows underneath to fill in the hole! The less coverings you can bear to have on it the better!
Good luck!
One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.0
