Potential Bottom Bracket Issue

The last couple of weeks I've noticed what seems to be quite a loud click when I am out of the saddle pressing on my pedals. It happens once on a pedal rev (can be with either foot on the downstroke). Having played around a little at home trying to replicate it I think it is coming from the bottom bracket. Presumably something in it is broken/damaged or it has worked slightly loose... Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I don't want to take it to a bike shop if it is something I could fix myself (even if I might need to buy a tool for it).

    What kind of bike you got?? Internal BB or external??

    Specialised Roubaix (whichever version is around £1500 - can't remember the model). I think it is external.
