Junior Road Bike

The nipper was after a road bike so he can spend Sunday mornings out and about with his old man.

He's about 4' 10". Instead of buying a kids specific road bike I was looking at a WSD Trek 1.2 with a 43cm frame or a Giant SCR4 with a 42cm frame

Anyone else recently bought a road bike for a kid and could offer some advice

I brought the scr 3 w (42cm) for my son (4' 7"), swapped to narrower bars (38cm to 36cm) and a shorter stem 50mm (from 65mm). Fit's him fine and is nice and light (paid £350).

I'll post a picture later.

A lot of people will recomend the isla luath 700. This has the benifit of being ealisly to convertable between cyclo cross and road, but I guess it won't be as light (maybe a couple lb max difference).

Could you post where some of these deals are. Finding good kids bike without paying the earth is not easy!
