Cateye Strada Problem

I've fitted the little bugger but I can't get the cadence to work. I've checked the unit by shorting the 2 metal blobs on the back of the computer and it works fine. I made sure the gap is less than 3mm. I've manually run the magnet past the sensor and it works ok but when the magnets fitted to the crank inside the little plastic housing it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Out of interest because I know you care, bought another magnet from Maplin with more oomph, and it clamps itself to the end of the peddle, avoiding a tie wrap on the crank aswell, works a treat! (don't know why I didnt try that with original magnet tbh :oops: ) Anyway I'm a happychappy!

My Cateye Strada seems a bit dodgy aswell, although the cadence is fine.
It never registers my speed at the start of my journeys and I have to wait for 5mins or so for it to start working, the distance between the magnet and the sensors is pretty close, and it doesn't change so I don't know why it suddenly starts displaying the speed 5mins after starting.0 -
