Speedplay zero pedals info
Im looking to buy a pair of speedplay zero pedals either the cromoly or stainless model, but are the stainless steel pedals worth the extra £45.00.

The stainless ones are roughly the same weight (as they're both steel). I've had chromo and stainless ones - to be honest they're exactly the same. The chromo ones are coated black so they don't rust - and importantly the paint stays on so they don't go rusty anyway.
I'd save £45 and get the chromo ones.
And what you def need to get is a set of these cups to protect the cleats when walking round (cleats aren;t cheap!)

The speeplays are well worth it. Double sided,m and as much float as you like. Keep on eye on the axle bearings too - you can grease these easily, so its worth doing regularly

100% agree.
The only other difference is that the cro-mo models have longer spindles... reducing the ground clearance. I think if you have to ask if the stainless ones are worth the price, you've probably already answered your own question.
I've tried the cromo, stainless and ti versions. It's true they're not much different. So if I were you, I'd just get the cromoly model if you want to save money.0 -
Functionally, they are about the same, but the Ti and stainless ones have cartridge outboard bearings and inboard roller bearings, whereas the Cro-mo's have a bushing in place of the roller bearings. I found these to be a poor substitute and mine developed play a lot quicker than the higher end versions I've had before and since.
I don't think I'd bother with Ti's again, but the step up to the stainless is more significant.0
