my raceface carbon bars arrived today an have to say I think the bubble wrap was heavier than the bars. Am lookin to get a carbon seatpost now and to be honest looking at what is available on ebay just now it's a minefield. Alloy with carbon wrap? whats the point of that?...anyway..would like to match the bars with the seatpost but that could prove costly so anybody any suggestions for a quality carbon seatpost with affordable the by-word...?

Bir more expensive, but not many of this quality cheaper, or lighter.0 -
Merlin are doing the Carbon Ibeam and saddle for silly money bargain price depending on what size you need. i think they only have 31.6mm0

27.2 I'm pretty sure..got the bars from merlin so I'll keep an eye on them. as for the easton seatpost..I've put it on my wishlist see how long I can keep it there before I say what the hell..0

I would recommend the easton too, I am getting a full carbon bike build and it is my seatpost choice, It also scores very highly in all MTB mags.0

Paradox1509 How much is the Easton seatpost, and is it available in the
angled style?0 -
You are looking at about £90.00 and I imagine by angled you mean setback? then yes you can get either inline or setback. One thing that does bother me though is the fact you can get a thomson elite which is not carbon, only a little heavier but much stronger and cheaper.

Yes i have the Thomson elite straight post but need the set back one.
Is there much difference in the weight between the two?0 -
£65 for the easton from CRC..check the link a bit further up..not sure on the lay back model though..0

Anyone got any thoughts on this? Looks like a good buy to me but no idea of the quality...0

why not purchase the raceface next sl seat post ,they are around £100 and come in a range of sizes ,they also have a very cool adjustment system so you can do the angle of the saddle and or backward or forwards position individualy. it looks very swish too and will match your bars very nicely .COVE STIFFEE 97,XT ,RACEFACE NEXT SL POST AND BARS,HOPE PRO2'S WITH MAVIC717 RIMS AND PACE RIGID FORKS0

I see £100 on a seatpost as an very expensive way of saving 20 or 30grams...I like the idea of the next sl carbon seatpost, I don't like the price...I'll wait to see if I can pick up a bargain like I did with the bars..0

It doesnt have the shock absorbing qualities of a carbon post though. Plus you could get a SMICA seatpost for half the price which is the same weight as a Thomson and still very strong.0 -

I got an FSA SL-K in 27.2 new off eBay for under £30.
It's not got the snazzy weave effect and it was slippy until I got some carbon grease - but it's light and it's carbon and that's good enough for me.0
