re-setting the cable to the rear derailer
After a few years of occassional tweaks to both the adjustment barrels to keep my 105 setup running ok I've now run out of adjustment and can't get onto the smallest gear.
So I guess need to release the cable from the derailer, wind the barrels to about mid point and ............then what! I'm concerned that my indexing will be completely screwed and I'll struggle to get it working.
Any bullet points for a novice on this front?

attempt to shift into lowest gear, make sure shifter is all clicked out, undo the cable (and in your case move chain yourself onto lowest cog), pull cable through hard and tighten again, now make one upshift, it should go up no problem, now make adjustment (on derailer adjuster) until it's just starting to want to change up, at this point just wind back a tad, it should now work.0
