Just a case of "mind the gap?" I guess!

Maybe that's it. My commuting bike is a Rockhopper with 1.3" slicks, and the gaps on that are like the Grand Canyon in comparison...
  • This is what I did to "fill the gaps" on an old Carlton frame http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2008/ja ... dleton.htm

Sorry about the powdercoat but it really was beyond help without it. Great fun on the rough stuff.

    Simon

PS - Meagain, I think the bike looks just peachy as is.

Nicely functional looking rig, Slim! Tyres 700x32s at a guess?

I've sort of decided that no point in trying to "modernise" the '64 Carlton above - back to 27s with original 'grds. However, I have another one that has closer clearances and will sit better on 700s so will probably turn out similar to yours! Probably...

  • 700x38's believe it or not.

It is a pretty functional looking bike eh? Great fun for tazzing along on trails - feels kind of unstoppable with the fixed gear.

Sadly not presently in this format - I needed to borrow bits for other bikes but looking at these photos makes me think I'll go back!!

And back to the start....she was built for 27s and 'grds and I think that that suits her best (and longer stem and shallower drops):

And a bar mounted bottle cage (didn't want to inflict clamps on the frame!).

Thank you, Paul! Praise indeed considering your standards.

I have TRIED posting to the flickr site (including a few "interesting" ones no longer mine), but for reasons I cannot recall I failed! I'll try again, honest.
